Community Involvement in Conservation of Natural Resources: Case Studies from Rajasthan, India

Abstract

Bharatpur, the Eastern Gate of Rajasthan, is well known tourism destination between Agra and Jaipur. It is situated on the confluence of three rivers, viz., Ruparel, Banganga and Gambhir. Further, the storm water in form of surface water runoff during the monsoon period constitutes flood drain of River Yamuna. Lying in the western most part of IndoGangetic Plains, the geographical features of the area denotes its importance.
