Comparative Evaluation Of Binary And Conventional Static VAR Compensators
Journal Title: Mechanics, Materials Science & Engineering Journal - Year 2017, Vol 13, Issue 1
Abstract
This paper presents a comparative study between conventional and binary static VAR compensator SVCs. These SVCs are designed for a 27.5-kV railway system. This paper provides the ratings, constructions, principles of operation, dynamic behaviour and design parameters for each type of SVC. This study compares between SVCs according to the current harmonics produced by each type and the inductors included in SVC branches. This paper evaluates the effectiveness of the binary SVC from two points of view; the first point of view is the harmonic content, and the second point of view is the copper weight and size of the inductors included in the SVC.

Microcapillary Features in Silicon Alloyed High-Strength Cast Iron
Present study explores features of silicon micro capillary in alloyed high-strength cast iron with nodular graphite (ductile iron) produced in metal molds. It identified the nature and mechanism of micro liquation of sil...
Study of Planar Mechanisms Kinetostatics Using the Theory of Complex Numbers with MathCAD PTC
The paper describes the convenient method to study the kinematics of planar mechanisms. Very convenient to study the kinematics of planar mechanisms with the help of complex numbers. The current article proposed the kine...
Mechanical Response of a I-Sectional Cantilever Beam under Impact Load
It is interesting to investigate the mechanical response of beam under impact load. In this study, the dynamical deformation of an I-sectional cantilever beam is taken into consideration by applying an object falling and...
Dynamic Mechanical Property of Kaolinite/Styrene-Butadiene Rubber Composites
The dynamic properties of kaolinite/styrene-butadiene rubber (SBR) composites filled by kaolinite were investigated to evaluate their real-world engineering applications. The results of field emission scanning electron m...
