Comparative Study of Monolayer Fatty Acids at the Air/Water Interface
Journal Title: Leonardo Electronic Journal of Practices and Technologies - Year 2003, Vol 2, Issue 3
Abstract
The behavior of insoluble monolayer of surfactants spread at the air/water interfaces is frequently studied by recording compression isotherms. The compression isotherms given in terms of surface pressure versus mean molecular area are well reproducible for a chosen spreading molecular area of fatty acids, like stearic acid, oleic acid and linoleic acid.Mathematical modeling of these isotherms is performed by means of surface state equations. In the literature, a great variety of such equations have been proposed. In the present paper is made a study of the compression isotherms of oleic acid (OA) monolayer spread at the air /water interface on acidic aqueous solutions (pH = 2).

Simulation Studies of Shear Stresses in Reinforced and Non-Reinforced Concrete Structures
A simulation study of the effect of shear stresses in non-reinforced and reinforced structures was carried in this work. Using the Finite Element Method and equations of elasticity, columns and concrete deck of a simple...
Refractory Properties of Termite Hills under Varied Proportions of Additives
The investigation centered on how additives such as Graphite, asbestos varied at different percentages can affect the refractory properties of pure termite hills. Experimental analysis was carried out on such properties...
Performance Scaling of Individual SPEC INT 2006 Results for AMD Processors
High performance is a critical requirement to all microprocessors manufacturers. In this paper we describe the performance scaling trends in AMD Opteron 2000+ and AMD Opteron 8000+ series processors. The micro architectu...
