Comparison of flow rates' classification method and Psiac method in calculating sediments entered into dams' reservoir (Case Study of Ilam's Dam)
Journal Title: International Research Journal of Applied and Basic Sciences - Year 2013, Vol 6, Issue 4
Abstract
Considering the prominent importance of Ilam's dam in supplying edible and agricultural water, and flood control, therefore, trying to reduce its sedimentation is useful and necessary. In this article, by using different methods of USBR and FAO along with flow rate's classification and statistic differentiation into high-water and low-water periods and also Psiac method the sedimentation rate in Ilams' dam was calculated and compared. For this, current's daily statistic and flow rate's sedimentation of hydrometrics stations of Chaviz, Serjou, and Ema were used which are considered as the inputs of dam's reservoir. Results of this comparison show that suitable method for calculation of influx sedimentations to this reservoir is hybrid method USBR and flow rates' classification by using statistic differentiation into high- and low-water periods. Considering these calculations, influx sedimentation rate into Ilam's dam is about 0.6 million m3 per year.
