COMPARISON OF IBUPROFEN RELEASE FROM DIBUTYRYLCHITIN AND POLYLACTIC ACID FILMS
Journal Title: Progress on Chemistry and Application of Chitin and its Derivatives - Year 2009, Vol 0, Issue
Abstract
The polymer films were developed from different materials - biodegradable polymers such as dibutyrylchitin (DBCH) and polylactid (PLA) to determine the release of ibuprofen and swelling kinetics at various pH of the environment. Swelling experiments and ibuprofen release were carried out using two different pH solutions, i.e. acid (pH = 5.6 deionized water solution) and basic ones (pH = 7.2 buffer solution), respectively. The results of the ibuprofen release and swelling properties showed that the processes are varied with the changes of the pH of the solution. The results indicate that the swelling process and release of ibuprofen follow first order kinetics.

EFFECT OF A HYDROPHILISING SUBSTANCE ON THE VISCOSITY OF GYNAECOLOGICAL GELS CONTAINING LACTIC ACID COMPLEXED WITH CHITOSAN
Thus ensuring a continuous action of a drug also during daily activity time of a patient is a vital question in gynaecological treatment. The main problem in applied therapies is to maintain the continuity of treatment d...
EVALUATION OF PHYSICOCHEMICAL PROPERTIES OF SOLID DISPERSIONS OF BCS CLASS II SUBSTANCES WITH CHITOSAN
The BCS class II includes drugs with low solubility and high permeability. The substances require modification to increase their solubility in the upper part of the digestive system. Fenofibrate is an example of this cla...
SURFACE PROPERTIES OF CHITOSAN ACETATE, POLYACRYLAMIDE AND THEIR MIXTURES
The surface properties of chitosan acetate (ChA), polyacrylamide (PAM) and ChA/PAM mixtures have been investigated by the tapping-mode atomic force microscopy (AFM) and monitored by contact angle measurements. Chitosan i...
FUNCTIONAL THREE-COMPONENT POLYMERIC BIOCOMPOSITES FOR THE TREATMENT OF BEDSORES
Presented here are the results of investigations into the preparation of three-component dressing materials from various biopolymers in the form of a single-layer film which is suitable as a carrier for pain-relieving (l...
