Comparison of low volume high concentration of local anesthetic with high volume low concentration local anesthetic for supraclavicular block
Journal Title: Medpulse International Journal of Anesthesiology - Year 2018, Vol 5, Issue 3
Abstract
Regional anesthesia in form of brachial plexus block is a common and reliable mode of anesthesia for upper limb blocks. By virtue of anatomy of brachial plexus supraclavicular approach for brachial plexus is one of favourite approach for upper limb surgeries. In our study we randomised 40 patients undergoing elective upper limb surgeries into two group of 20 each. Group H received high volume of low concentration of local anesthetic agent and Group L received low volume of high concentration local anesthetic agents. The patients in Group H had slower onset of block, quicker recovery from block and lower consumption of local anesthetic agent when compared to patients in Group L.

Comparison of efficacy of different concentration of bupivacaine in ultrasound-guided transversus abdominis plane (TAP) block for postoperative pain relief in lower segment cesarean section
Women undergoing cesarean delivery present distinctive set of challenges to the anaesthesiologist in the immediate postoperative period. These women want to be alert and mobile in the postoperative period to care for the...
A study of haemodynamic response on low dose dexmedetomidine infusion in laparoscopic surgery
Background: Dexmedetomidine is a potent and highly selective α-2 adrenoceptor agonist with sympatholytic, sedative, amnestic and analgesic properties which has been described as a useful and safe adjunct in many clinical...
Efficacy of bupivacaine infiltration for postoperative pain relief in paediatric patients
Background: The effective control of pain remains one of the most important issues in the postoperative care today. Local infiltration of bupivacaine requires less skill and is better technique for postoperative pain rel...
