Complicated Onychomycosis in Patients with Metabolic Syndrome: Clinical Aspects of Deviation in the Laboratory Signs of Endothelial Dysfunction and Polyhypovitaminosis

Abstract

The study involved 93 patients aged 52 to 85 years with metabolic syndrome and concomitant complicated fungal nail infection. In all patients we have measured the levels of nitric oxide and endothelin-1. The content of B1, B2, PP, B6 and C vitamins in the blood, and urine excretion of derivatives before and during the treatment of patients with destructive onychomycosis were studied. It is noted that in the majority of patients (aged over 50 years) with polyоnychomycosis and comorbid underlying metabolic syndrome has endothelial dysfunction and multivitamin deficiency that requires correction.
