Journal Title: International Journal of Contemporary Management - Year 2011, Vol 10, Issue 3
Abstract
The aim of the paper is an attempt to identify the organization orientation by measuring the level of innovativeness, proactivity and risk taking. In order to carry out this measurement a specific tool has been constructed. It is based on questions proposed by M.H. Morris and D.F. Kuratko and by W. Dyduch. The research method is a case study. When selecting companies, the level of effectiveness of organization functioning and development, reflected in competitive advantage, has been taken into consideration. Finally, a small manufacturing company registered in the Świętokrzyskie region has been selected. The case study revealed that product innovations are associated with changes in production and distribution. It is also the case of the organization which strategy consists in entrepreneurial activities. The results of measuring the level of innovation, proactivity and risk-taking helped to determine the orientation of a company as entrepreneurial. This orientation reflects the managerial response to the changes in the environment and within the organization itself. It results in new ideas that are implemented in practice.
