Comprehensive prosthetic rehabilitation of a patient with partial nose amputation – case report

Abstract
Patients with missing volume of face pose a serious challenge to prosthetists. The indications for using anextraoralprosthesisinprostheticrehabilitation include: facial tissue defects resulting from surgical treatment of malignancies or recurrence of cancer, cases of own tissue rejection or significant distortion due to radiotherapy. In patients of advanced age with a number of limitations as to the possibility of surgical treatment, the option of choice includes the use of ectoprosthesis anchored by means of an adhesive or spectacles. The aim of the study was to present a procedure of comprehensive prosthetic rehabilitation of a patient with nasal tissue defect and extensively missing teeth. Diagnosis, treatment plan and course of the therapeutic process are discussed in relation to a patient with facial tissues defects and prosthetic rehabilitation. The nose epithesis constructed on a glasses frame and a complete overdenture were used. The described comprehensive prosthetic intra- and extraoral solutions have provided aesthetic and functional reconstruction of the patient’s stomatognathic system.
