Concealment as a Tool of Deception: An Analysis of J.K. Rowling’s Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets

Abstract
Deception is a pervasive theme in the Harry Potter series which J.K. Rowling depicts on diverse canvases in each novel. In Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets, deception is exhibited through lies, trickery, concealment, pretence, and deceit. This paper aims at analyzing the predominant theme of concealment and the effects of secrecy upon the plot and the characters, punctuating the motives and intentions behind concealing.It identifies the ways in which concealment is handled by the good and evil characters and also throws light upon the magical objects that assist the characters in concealing themselves.
