CONCEPT OF PALITA (GREYING OF HAIR): A LITERARY REVIEW

Abstract

Ayurveda has great aspect of cosmetology. In Ayurveda text cosmetic diseases like Khalitya, Palita, Yauvana Pidaka, Vali, Darunaka, Kunakha is described as kshudraroga. Among these cosmetic diseases Palita (Greying of hair) is not only affects the appearance but also it is embrassing. It is harmless causing no pain but lowers self-confidence and leads to psychological stress.It is found the limitation to cure this disease by modern medicine. Present study explains the causes, pathogenesis and its treatment in Ayurveda and also explains the preventive measures of palita as per Ayurveda.
