Abstract
The primary objective of a hygienist working with pre-school children is to motivate their parents and teach them about effective procedures. Therefore, adaptation visits paid by children and parents together are of great importance. A conscious and consistent parent can attend to their child's proper oral hygiene and its regular visits to the dentist. What is the proper course of an adaptive visit? How should the hygienist prepare for such a visit? When should she devote her attention to the parents? This article describes a situation when parents take their child to the office before the child has a toothache. Only then does such an adaptive visit make sense.
