Control of Phenolic Compound Secretion and Effect of Growth Regulators for Organ Formation from Musa spp. cv. Kanthali Floral Bud Explants
Journal Title: American Journal of Biochemistry and Biotechnology - Year 2006, Vol 2, Issue 3
Abstract
The study was undertaken to examine banana cv. Kanthali floral bud apex as an alternative source material for in vitro propagation because huge number of explants die due to microbial contamination in case of shoot tip explants. Contamination free cultures were established by treating the floral bud explants with 0.1% HgCl2 for 6 min. This study found that inflorescence tissues of experimental plant was almost contamination free but was high in phenolic compounds. Phenolic compounds secretion was successfully stopped by pre-soaking them in an antioxidant solution of 0.125% potassium citrate: citrate. After antioxidant treatment the floral bud explants were cultured on MS medium supplemented with different concentrations and combinations of BA+Kn+IAA/IBA+15%CW. Compact, white/greenish white callus was formed in different amount at all concentrations after 3 weeks of culture. All were again subcultured at same medium and after another 30-35 days at 2.0 mg L 1 BA+2.0 mg L 1 Kn+2.0 mg L 1 IAA+15%CW some callus showed embryogenic structure.

Static and Dynamic Mechanical Behavior of Hydroxyapatite-Polyacrylic Acid Composites Under Simulated Body Fluid
In this work, we have investigated mechanical response of hydroxyapatite/polyacrylic composites under dry, wet and simulated body fluid conditions. Hydroxyapatite (HAP) is mineralized under two conditions; one, in pres...
Molecular Characterization of Soybean Mosaic Virus NIa Protein and its Processing Event in Bacterial Expression
Soybean mosaic virus (SMV)-CN18 is an Rsv resistance-breaking (RB) isolate to overcome soybean resistance genes Rsv1, Rsv3 and Rsv4. The aim of this study was to characterize nuclear inclusion protein a (NIa protein) o...

Fabrication of 3-D Porous Mg/Zn doped Tricalcium Phosphate Bone-Scaffolds via the Fused Deposition Modelling
Three dimensionally interconnected porous resorbable beta-tricalcium phosphate (-TCP) ceramic scaffolds were developed using the indirect fused deposition modelling process. -TCP was doped with Mg and Zn, separately,...
Genetic Complementation Studies of Human Pin1 in Azotobacter vinelandii Revealed that it Requires Amino Terminus of the NifM to Deliver PPIase Effect to the Fe-protein of Nitrogenase
The NifM is a peptidyl prolyl cis-trans isomerase and is required for the maturation and activation of the Fe protein of Nitrogenase. Since the carboxyl terminus of NifM is similar to the Human Pin1, we expressed the Hum...
