Correlation between career resilience and career success of ophthalmic nurses

Abstract

[Objective:] To understand the current situation and relationship of career resilience and career success of ophthalmic nurses, aiming to provide basis for nursing managers to manage and guide the career of ophthalmic nurses and to promote the planning and development of individual career of nurses. [Methods:] Ophthalmic nurses in one grade III level A hospitals in Guangzhou were recruited by convenient sampling method. Among 200 ophthalmic nurses who met the inclusion criteria, general information questionnaire, career resilience scale were utilized and career success scale for investigation. [Results:] The total score of career resilience of ophthalmic nurses was 96.74±21.62. The total score of career success of ophthalmic nurses was 37.05±8.68. Correlation analysis demonstrated that the total score of career resilience and the scores of each factor were positively correlated with that of career success and those of each dimension of ophthalmic nurses (all P<0.01). [Conclusion:] Ophthalmic nursing managers can improve their career success by cultivating the career resilience of ophthalmic nurses.
