CORRELATION OF EPIDURÂL FIBROSIS AND THE SİZE OF LAMINA DEFECT PERFORMED ON OPERATION

Journal Title: Journal of Turkish Spinal Surgery - Year 1996, Vol 7, Issue 1

Abstract

İn thls study, 1000 patients in the ages of 20-60 are evaluated retrospectively according to their surgical ap-proaches. 36 and 7 patients who had fibrosis after hemipartial and hemiiaminectomy respectiveiy were reported. We have never observed re-operation due to fibrosis in the patients unden/vent operation by a total iaminectomy. Also, we have never seen re-operation due to fibrosis by total İaminectomy. For these reasons, we compare the epidurai fibrosis and the size of iamina defect and considered that hemiiaminectomy should be preferred to hemipartial İaminectomy if one wants to prevent patients from reoperation due to fibrosis.
