Corruption, Growth and Income Inequality in Selected Asian Countries

Journal Title: Research Journal Social Sciences (Online) - Year 2014, Vol 3, Issue 2

Abstract

Increasing corruption is alarming for both economic growth and income inequality. Various studies show that rising corruption has detrimental effects on economic growth and income inequality. Moreover, corruption decreases economic growth directly and indirectly through insufficient investment in human and physical capital. Using panel data for selected Asian countries from 1994-2013 I show that corruption has negative impact on growth and income inequality. Dynamic panel data techniques are used to estimate the growth equation and income inequality equation.
