COUNTRY RISK ASSESSMENT IN EASTERN EUROPE

Abstract
In the article there was conducted a research on different approaches to the concept of a “country risk”, with the main methods of its assessment considered. An assessment of the country risk in the Eastern European countries was also conducted on the basis of the BERI index. For this purpose, fifteen criteria that characterize the state of the country in political, economic, social and other aspects were used, and provided answers to the questions about the formation of an expert evaluation for each indicator. This gave an opportunity to more deeply consider and disclose the strengths and weaknesses of the country, which will further influence the assessment of the riskiness of the foreign economic activity. In addition, an algorithm for evaluating the BERI index was presented. On the basis of the obtained data, the level of country risk in Poland was assessed and an expert opinion on the safety and feasibility of doing business in its territory has been formed.
