Abstract

The purpose of the research is to analyze the stage performance of the famous Ukrainian dancer and choreographer Viktor Yaremenko, whose creativity peak was on the 1980s and early 2000s. The relevance of the study is determined by the artistic interest in the national theatrical heritage, and the need of accurate study of history of the Ukrainian ballet. Methodology of the work includes the use of the following culturological methods: general-historical method (selection and analysis of material), comparative-historical method (study of the subject of work in its various manifestations), analytical method (logical systematization of facts), and biographical method (analysis of the way of life). The scientific novelty of the publication lies in the study of the most important phases of Yaremenko's artistic career, revealing features of his ballets and stage achievements. The conclusions state that Victor Yaremenko became the first artist in the independent Ukraine who received bachelor degree in choreography in a specialty: "Ballet-master of a ballet theater". It has been proved that Yaremenko perfomances continue the style of polyphonic spectacles of his teacher – Anatoliy Shekera, a famous ballet master and professor of Ukrainian Academy of Dance.
