Abstract
The paper tackles the issues of increasing listening comprehension skills through creative techniques. Listening is a communicative process, in which the learners should be able to understand the verbal message, the situation and the context. According to the latest researches time spent on listening by a person in everyday life is about 45 percent of a whole number of communication time. Teachers play a significant role in building up their students’ listening comprehension skills in ESL instruction. Three stages of developing listening skills are highlighted. They are pre-listening, while-listening and post-listening, but the problem is in what time proportion classroom listening activities are dedicated to exactly listening practice. Creative techniques mainly for increasing while-listening skills based on authentic resources are analyzed and described in the article.
