Crisis Tirotóxica. La importancia de la valoración clínica

Abstract
Thyrotoxic crisis is a rare pathology that occurs in patients with hyperthyroidism. This manuscript presents a clinical case of a 38-year-old patient with hyperthyroidism who comes for altered consciousness, fever, and tachycardia. The cause of this medical emergency was related to a picture of thyrotoxic crisis. Thanks to the knowledge of the medical clinic, this pathology can affect various organs by the toxic effects of excess thyroid hormones. Its diagnosis and treatment are based on clinical suspicion, using scales such as Burch and Wartofsky and thyroid hormone levels, liver function markers, cardiac, renal, electrocardiogram, and thyroid ultrasound as a complement. Thyroid storm has a high mortality rate, and patients should receive immediate treatment to manage complications and restore normal thyroid function.
