CT scanner application in radiotherapy planning
Journal Title: Inżynier i Fizyk Medyczny - Year 2014, Vol 3, Issue 3
Abstract
One of the key elements of the success of treatment using ionizing radiation is to define the volume occupied by the tumor cells. No precise designation of such an area causes the radiation dose will be deposited in the place where there are no cells. As a result of this topographical error well record the failure of therapy with a high degree of probability. Therefore, a clear definition of the volume to be treated is a key element in radiotherapy treatment planning. For this purpose, now routinely used for CT examination. To perform treatment planning in a way that takes into account the effects mentioned above the appropriate software is required to use and to define of data links between different diagnostic and therapeutic devices.
