Cu and Zn tolerance and responses of the Biochemical and Physiochemical system of Wheat
Journal Title: Журнал ÑтреÑÑ-физиологии и биохимии - Year 2012, Vol 8, Issue 3
Abstract
The concentrations of heavy metals such as Zinc and copper in the environment are currently increasing, due mainly to human activities. Zinc and copper are essential elements for several biochemical processes in plants. Any of these metals, at high concentrations in soil, can cause severe damage to physiological and biochemical activities of plants. Plant growth, pigment concentration, biochemical parameters, uptake of heavy metals were investigated in 30-days old wheat ([i]Triticum aestivum[/i] L.) in response to Cu and Zn stress. The plant exhibited a decline in growth, chlorophyll content, protein and DNA, RNA content carbohydrate, but proline, total phenol and H[sub]2[/sub]O[sub]2[/sub] content increased at high concentration of Cu and Zn.

Effect of Temperature on Triticum aestivum L. Seedlings Growth and Phytohormone Balance
The study aimed to determine the effect of short-term heat and cold stresses on growth, accumulation and distribution of abscisic acid (ABA) and indole-3-acetic acid (IAA) in 7 and 14-day-old Triticum aestivum L. seedlin...
In-vitro response of Vigna aconitifolia to drought stress induced by PEG - 6000
This investigation was aimed at investigating effect of low water potential generated by PEG on growth, sugar content and stress related enzymes (catalase, GPOX) at seedling level. Additionally gene expression was also s...
Growth and antioxidant system under drought stress in Chickpea (Cicer arietinum L.) as sustained by salicylic acid
Drought is one of the major factors limiting chickpea production in arid and semi arid regions. There is meagre information available regarding genotypic variation for drought tolerance in chickpea genotypes. Present inv...
Morphological and molecular variation of five rice varieties to Ultra Violet-B radiation stress
India is one of the major rice producing countries. Rice cultivation is affected by several factors such as climate, soil pollution, UV radiation etc. The present study is an attempt made to understand the morpholo...
Efficiency of application original preservatives for conservation leukocytes at -40 °C
When frozen leukocytes exposed to harmful factors of the complex, due to their complex cellular structure and high metabolism. Cryopreservatives allow to avoid damages, but most of which are toxic. The aim of the present...
