Abstract
The main directions and features of cultural and educational and library activity of people’s houses of committees of guardianship about national sobriety in Ukraine at the end of 19 – the beginning of the 20th century are investigated; it is studied specifics of the organization of work of reading rooms of people’s houses of committees of guardianship about national sobriety in the territory of the country; features of activity and value of the specified libraries in providing the population with the library book, in distribution of reading, education and spiritual culture are analysed.
