CURRENT APPROACHES ON GASTRO RETENTIVE DRUG DELIVERY SYSTEM: AN OVERVIEW
Journal Title: WORLD JOURNAL PHARMACY AND PHARMACEUTICAL SCIENCE - Year 2019, Vol 8, Issue 6
Abstract
Gastro retentive drug delivery system (GRDDS) can be defined as a system which remains in the stomach for a sufficient time period and releases active ingredients in a controlled manner. This, significantly extends the duration of drug release, prolongs dosing interval and increases bioavailability of drugs and therefore improves compliance of the patients and effectiveness of pharmacotherapy. The current review deals with the advantages, disadvantages, parameters-affecting gastric emptying, formulation considerations, factors that affect gastro retentive systems and also highlights some of the recent gastro retentive approaches. Recent approaches to increase the gastric residence time of drug delivery systems include bioadhesive systems, floating systems (low density systems), non-floating systems (high density systems), magnetic systems, swelling systems, unfoldable and expandable systems, raft forming systems and superporous systems, biodegradable hydrogel systems. The main emphasis is on the entire classification and different types of GRDDS. Finally evaluation methods of these systems have been summarized.

ORAL FILMS: EXPANDING THE ORAL DELIVERY TECHNIQUE, BASICS, CHALLENGES AND CURRENT TRENDS
Much interest has been indicated in non-invasive drug delivery strategies that achieve fast onset of drug action, prevent its rapid degradation but enhance targeted release. In recent times, the oral film technology has...
AN INNOVATIVE APPROACH OF MATRIX ALGEBRA TO BALANCING CHEMICAL-REACTION EQUATIONS
In this paper, we are balancing the chemical reactions by representing the chemical equation in to the mathematical model. Here we are using Gauss elimination method and Gauss-Jordan method to balance the given chemical...
HEPATO-RENAL PROTECTIVE EFFECT OF ORGANIUM MAJORANA AGAINST PARACETAMOL TOXICITY IN RATS
The present study investigated the hepato-renal effect of the Organium majorana leaves extract against the hepato-renal toxicity induced by paracetamol in female rats. Theirty five white female rats were used and divided...
