Journal Title: Αρχεία Ελληνικής Ιατρικής - Year 2013, Vol 30, Issue 2

Abstract

This is a review of the current knowledge on the physiopathology of lumbar radiculopathy, with reference to the many recent animal and human studies, in an attempt to explain the pathophysiological mechanisms of the condition. The transition to newer forms of treatment is explained, focusing on epidural injection of corticosteroids and local anesthetics, the importance of which is analyzed based on their pharmacology.
