Current problems of groundwater management and groundwater resources

Abstract
In any aquatic system hydrodynamic conditions and hydrostructural boundaries of water balance unit of an aquifer must be identified. If hydraulic contacts with surface waters exist, these are the internal boundaries for the conceptual model. All these factors can be integrated only with the application of mathematical modelling in which time and space variability of factors determining the formation of groundwater resources, their management and protection can be credibly represented. The simulations enable the operator to calculate water balances under natural conditions and the volumes of renewable, disposable and admissible resources. Optimization of resources management can be accomplished with the application of multivariant modelling, which must take into consideration quantitative and qualitative protection of waters circulating in the studied aquatic system.
