CURRENT PROBLEMS OF THE FINANCIAL POSITION OF SLOVAK HOUSEHOLDS

Abstract
The article discusses the financial position of Slovak households, which becomes a serious economic, social and ethical problem in recent years. The development of the financial position of Slovak households is significantly influenced by many factors. The relatively low level of indebtedness in the past, typical for Central and Eastern European countries, is the first important factor of the growth of household debt. In addition to the low indebtedness of the population, the significant decrease of interest rates on the financial market is also contributing to the increase of indebtedness of Slovak households. However, this rapid pace of household indebtedness growth might be a significant source of economic imbalance at both microeconomic and macroeconomic levels in the future.
