CURRENT STATE OF STOCKS AND POPULATION STRUCTURE OF RUSSIAN STURGEON (ACIPENSER GULDENSTÀDTII BRANDT, 1833) IN VOLGA-CASPIAN REGION

Abstract
Data on abundance, distribution and stocks of Russian sturgeon (Acipenser güldenstädtii Brandt, 1833) in the Northern and Middle Caspian are presented (zone of responsibility of the Russian Federation). Status of the spawning population, migration characteristics, intensity of spawner run into the Volga River delta for the period 2006–2012 are estimated. The dynamics of the relationship of spring and winter parts of the spawning population is given. The absolute number of Russian sturgeon measured runs to spawning grounds in the lower part of the Volga in the late 70's and into the modern period. The key biological parameters of fattens and spawning stock are presented.
