Cutaneous Manifestations of Disease in Patients with Chronic Acquired Toxoplasmosis
Journal Title: Актуальна інфектологія - Year 2014, Vol 3, Issue 2
Abstract
Chronic toxoplasmosis in remission is one of the most common infectious diseases in humans, however, it was assumed that, except cases of hereditary transmission, it is asymptomatic. Monitoring changes in behavior, reproductive function in patients with toxoplasmosis led to a revision of this assumption. The latest information on the metabolism of hormones in the liver, exposure to toxoplasma cells of the human body and the virulence of the parasite has opened new dimensions in the pathophysiology of infection. The need to develop new criteria of toxoplasmosis complications in immunocompetent persons and the possibility of correcting this condition are stressed.
