Cystic fibrosis and diabetes mellitus in an adolescent

Abstract
Presented in this article are peculiarities of pancreas affection against the background of cystic fibrosis, leading to development of diabetes mellitus, which is an unfavorable attribute of progression of primary disease. We have conducted an analysis of literature data with description of particularity of progression and clinical manifestations of cystic fibrosis-associated diabetes mellitus in children. We have analyzed the case record of a child aged 15 years, diagnosed with cystic fibrosis at the age of 5 years. Later, clinical manifestations of diabetes mellitus emerged. Against the background of cystic fibrosis there was early manifestation of diabetes mellitus in a child. For early diagnosis of cystic fibrosis-associated diabetes mellitus it is recommended to regularly check glycemic status of all children with cystic fibrosis since the moment of diagnosis.
