Cytodiagnosis of zosteriform cutaneous metastases from breast cancer with Tzanck smear: Report of a case with histopathological correlation

Abstract

Cytological examination is currently used as a Tzanck smear in vesiculo-bullous disease, and in plaque or nodular lesions such as cutaneous leishmaniasis, mastocytosis and tumoral lesions in dermatology. Zona is common in patients with malignancy and treatment should be initiated in the first three days. For this reason, Tzanck smear is a quick, practical examination that very important to distinguish zosteriform sited cutaneous metastasis and zona.
