Abstract
Çalışmanın amacı, değerlerin en genel sınıflandırmasını yapmaktır. Bunun için muhtemel tüm değerlerin bağlı olduğu evrensel temel değerler araştırılmıştır. Fiziki ve toplumsal gerçekliklerin tarihsel yöntem ile incelenmesi sonucunda özgürlük, eşitlik, adalet, bilim ve sanat olmak üzere beş evrensel temel değer saptanmıştır. Diğer bütün değerlerin, temel değerlerden bir veya birkaçının bileşkesi olarak ortaya çıktığı anlaşılmaktadır. Evrensel değerler toplumsal olaylarda gözlemlenebilen olgusal değerlerdir. Sosyal olaylarda temel değerler ne miktarda bulunursa aynı oranda işlevsel olduğu kabul edilebilir.
