Delayed medical visit among tuberculosis patients and risk factors in Huaibei Cityï¼ Anhui Province from 2017 to 2021
Journal Title: Shanghai Journal of Preventive Medicine - Year 2023, Vol 35, Issue 8
Abstract
ObjectiveTo understand the situation about time interval between the onset and medical visit among tuberculosis patients in Huaibei Cityï¼ Anhui Province from 2017 to 2021ï¼ and to determine the delayed medical visit and its risk factorsï¼ as to provide evidence for tuberculosis prevention and control.MethodsCase information of confirmed tuberculosis patients in Huaibei City in 2017â2021 was collected from the tuberculosis management information system. Factors associated with time interval between the onset and medical visit were analyzed using rank sum test and multivariate linear regression. Furthermoreï¼ factors associated with the delayed medical visit were determined by Chi-square testï¼ Chi-square CocharanâMantelâHaensze test and logistic regression.ResultsThe median time interval between the onset of tuberculosis and medical visit were 22 days among the tuberculosis patients in Huaibei City from 2017â2021ï¼ and the proportion of delayed medical visit was 68.57%. There was an overall decreasing trend in the proportion of delayed medical visit over years ï¼Ïtrend2=17.342ï¼ P=0.002ï¼. Using the multivariate linear regressionï¼ positive for Mycobacterium Tuberculosis in the pathogenic diagnosisï¼ and presence of comorbidities were determined to be the risk factors associated with increased time interval between the onset and medical visit. Furthermoreï¼ logistic regression analysis showed that patients aged â¤24 years ï¼OR=0.596ï¼ 95%CIï¼0.503â0.706ï¼ P<0.05ï¼ï¼ 25â years ï¼OR=0.667ï¼ 95%CIï¼0.559â0.796ï¼ P<0.05ï¼ï¼ 35â years ï¼OR=0.762ï¼ 95%CIï¼0.613â0.947ï¼ P<0.05ï¼ï¼ and 45â54 years ï¼OR=0.838ï¼ 95%CIï¼0.711â0.987ï¼ P<0.05ï¼ had significantly lower risk of delayed medical visit than those aged ⥠55 years old group. Regarding the household registration statusï¼ non-local residents had lower risk of delayed medical visit than local residents ï¼OR=0.838ï¼ 95%CIï¼0.732â0.960ï¼ P<0.05ï¼.ConclusionPositive for Mycobacterium tuberculosis in the pathogenic diagnosisï¼ and presence of comorbidities were risk factors associated with increased time interval between the onset and medical visit. The proportion of delayed medical visit among tuberculosis patients in Huaibei City from 2017 to 2021 showed a decreasing trend over 5 yearsï¼ and age â¥55 years old and local residents were risk factors associated with delayed medical visit.
