DEMOGRAPHIC CRISIS AND FEATURES OF ITS SOLUTION IN THE AGRICULTURAL REGIONS OF UKRAINE

Journal Title: Аграрна економіка - Year 2018, Vol 11, Issue 1

Abstract

Demographic security is an integral part of the economic security of the state, which, at the same time, is one of the main components of its national security. This is a national and political problem that generates socio-economic problems for the Ukrainian nation, for the Ukrainian village, which leads them to destruction, and, accordingly, to the destruction of the state. Along with the decrease in the number of population in Ukraine, the number of rural settlements has decreased by 419 units and urban villages by 42 units. That is, 18 settlements have been disappearing from the map of Ukraine for 26 years on average. The financial situation and the level of well-being and life of the rural population have been deteriorating. Such a process is quite permanent and confirms the inadequate level of the demographic policy of the state towards the village, which, accordingly, depends crucially on the quality of the state agricultural policy as a whole, which ideally should take into account the need for an organic and integrated solution to the problem of development of the rural economy and balanced development of rural areas. The reasons for this situation are due to the underestimation of the decisive role of agricultural production in the development of rural areas and the key role of the rural population in addressing the problems of agricultural development and related industries in terms of addressing the country's food problem. That is why the question of effective improvement of the demographic policy of the state in rural areas should be an important issue of state policy, as the level of proper national security of Ukraine depends on the success of its solution, which, accordingly, requires further and continuous deep research. Therefore, this article presents the results of the study of the possibilities of identifying some of the main directions for the current problem solving and justifying the necessary measures for their effective implementation.
