Journal Title: The Journal of International Social Research - Year 2017, Vol 10, Issue 51
Abstract
The new Turkish cinema plays a valuable communicational instrument role for sociological studies in terms of dealing with social and individual issues in the recent period. This ground that bring art and theory together constitutes a visual background to academic texts. In this sense, while social life affects cinema, cinema reformulates socialization variables and shapes collective perception. The tie between films and everyday life is not based merely on entertainment culture. Instead, these two fields that feed each other provide an opportunity to produce significant debates and essential findings. This article sees the body both as a component of gender and sexuality and as beyond. For this purpose, in this work, the film Vücut, one of examples of the Turkish Cinema, made in 2011 is analysed because this film gives an opportunity to understand and to discuss the concepts of body, gender and sexuality both in local and global senses. As for the body, it is one of the most crucial parameters in understanding the modern culture.
