Design of Single Master Inter-Integrated Circuit Bus Controller
Journal Title: International Journal for Research in Applied Science and Engineering Technology (IJRASET) - Year 2016, Vol 4, Issue 2
Abstract
Inter-Integrated Circuit Bus commonly known as IIC or I2C Bus was developed by Philips semiconductors. I2C is a multi-master, multi-slave, single-ended, serial computer bus and is typically used for attaching lower-speed peripheral ICs to processors and microcontrollers. The I2C bus physically consists of 2 active wires called SDA and SCL which are bi-directional. SDA is the Serial Data Line and SCL is the Serial Clock Line. Each slave connected to the I2C bus has its own unique address. In this paper, a single master – single slave Inter-Integrated Circuit bus has been developed. An EEPROM has been used as the slave device. The design was based on Finite State Machine using VHDL and was simulated using ModelSim.
