Design of the driving aggression scale for drivers

Journal Title: Revista Eugenio Espejo - Year 2025, Vol 19, Issue 1

Abstract

The aim was to determine the psychometric properties of a scale to measure driving aggression in a purposive sample of 487 urban service transporters aged between 18 and 70 years old, the majority of males with 434 (89.1%); with a complete secondary education degree with 252 (51.7%); in terms of experience with more than 8 or more years in driving 156 (32.0%); license time between 1 to 3 years with 157 (32.2%); with license type A - IIb with 431 (88.5%). A quantitative approach methodology was chosen, with a non-experimental design, cross-section and instrumental scope. The main data have confirmed the relevance, representativeness and clarity of content validity greater than 0.7. Regarding construct validity, it was found that the original model with the five factors did not meet the expected data, so items 1, 2, 16, 18 and 23 were eliminated, thus improving these indices (CFI = 0.955; TLI = 0.947; SRMR = 0.066 and RMSEA = 0.062); to this is added the value of reliability by internal consistency that reached an α = 0.843 with an ω = 0.843, thus indicating that the instrument shows adequate levels of content validity, construct and internal reliability.
