Determination of Feed Values of Some Annual Ryegrass (Lolium multiflorum Lam.) Varieties under Kahramanmaraş Conditions
Journal Title: ISPEC Journal of Agricultural Sciences - Year 2023, Vol 7, Issue 3
Abstract
This study was carried out to determine the herbal characteristics and feed quality of 11 different annual ryegrasses (Lolium multiflorum Lam.) varieties in the experimental field of Kahramanmaraş Sütçü İmam University, Faculty of Agriculture and Department of Field Crops in 2016-2017 growing season. The study was established according to the completely randomized block design (CRD) with three replications. In the experiment, Alberto, Bogueano, Braulio, Devis, Excellent, Hellen, Medoacus, Pollanum, Rambo, Trinova and Udine varieties were used as annual ryegrass (Lolium multiflorum Lam.) varieties. As a result of the research; green forage yield 2837-3852 kg/da, dry forage yield 857.3-1184.3 kg/da, crude protein ratio 9.01-13.45%, crude protein yield 83.20-140.81 kg/da, crude ash ratio 9.56-12.40%, ADF ratio 35.00-38.17%, NDF ratio 57.32-62.07%, DDM 59.16-61.63%, DMI 1.92-2.12%, RFV 90.09-100.04 and DDMY 520.17-722.70 kg/ha. There was no statistical difference between the varieties in terms of the traits other than dry forage yield, crude protein ratio and crude protein yield. The highest dry forage yield was obtained from Pollanum, Devis and Udine varieties, which were statistically in the same group, and the highest crude protein ratio and crude protein yield were obtained from Hellen variety.
