DETERMINATION OF SAMPLE SIZE AND SAMPLING METHODS IN APPLIED RESEARCH
Journal Title: Proceedings on Engineering Sciences - Year 2021, Vol 3, Issue 1
Abstract
Sample size, sampling method and sampling technique plays a major role in social sciences, business, health science, agricultural science research and survey research. If the sample size is inappropriate it may lead to wrong inferences on the population. Precise sampling techniques are used for specific research problems because one technique may not be appropriate for all problems. Significant factors considered for the estimation of sample size were population size, confidence level proportion of outcome in case of categorical variables, standard deviation of the outcomes in case of ordinal variables, essential precision from the research. The present paper gives an outline of commonly used techniques in the research to find out the sample size precisely. Probability sampling techniques are more suitable for health science related research.

APPLICATION OF ISHIKAWA DIAGRAM TO INVESTIGATE SIGNIFICANT FACTORS CAUSING ROUGH SURFACE ON SAND CASTING
This paper discusses the identification, mechanism and causes for the rough surface defect on the sand castings. In foundries raw materials are transformed into finished casting using many intermediate processes like pat...
WHAT ARE THE FACTORS THAT MOST AFFECT SERVICE QUALITY IN FAST-FOOD RESTAURANTS?
This paper aims to identify the factors that most affect service quality in fast-food restaurants (FFR) from the Brazilian customers' perspective. Factor analysis was used to verify the items of the DINESERV scale. Cronb...
DEPLOYING BACKGROUND SUBTRACTION APPROACH FOR TRACKING AND DETECTING MOVING OBJECTS
This paper illustrates the deployment of the background subtraction (BGS) approach in detecting and tracking the targeted moving objects (MOs). Through the BGS method, there is a potential of cost-saving because the proc...
PROCESS CAPABILITY IMPROVEMENT FOR SWINGARM BORING OPERATION: A CASE STUDY
A swingarm is the most crucial component of modern motorcycles use to provide suspension, hold the rear axle firmly, manage load distribution and maintain the centre of gravity. Boring is one of the most critical operati...
AIR QUALITY INDEX FORECASTING USING HYBRID NEURAL NETWORK MODEL WITH LSTM ON AQI SEQUENCES
This paper presents an approach to forecasting air pollution levels measured as Air Quality Index (AQI) metric using hybrid Long Short-Term Memory (LSTM) models. The pollution levels have been found to vary in a particul...
