Abstract
Determination selected physical and mechanical properties of mukulungu wood Autranellacongolensis (de Wild.) A Chev. The main objective of this paper was to determine selected physical and mechanical properties of mukulungu wood (Autranellacongolensis (de Wild.) A Chev). Particularly, tests included determination of density, dimensions stability, compression strength along the fibers, static bending strength, shearing strength along the fibres, hardness by the method of Janka and the tensile strength along the fibers. The presented characteristic of properties was complemented by the analysis of stability of wood color, during UV irradiation. The characteristic of wood structure was also made. It was found that the mukulungu wood belongs to the group of very heavy wood and is characterized by the favorable technical parameters, primarily the high hardness. Furthermore, the mukulungu wood is the wood of average shrinkage.
