Development of approaches to standardization of Helichrysum arenarium (L.) Moench. in multicomponent plant composition
Journal Title: Фармацевтичний журнал - Year 2014, Vol 6, Issue 6
Abstract
Determined marker for qualitative and quantitative standardization of Helichrysum arenarium (L.) Moench. flowers in the plant mixtures. As a marker of Helichrysum arenarium (L.) Moench. flowers can be used apigenin. Apigenin has a wide range of biological activity (in particular, apigenin has anti-inflammatory, antioxidant, anti-cancer and many other pharmacological properties). The method for the analysis of apigenin in Helichrysum arenarium (L.) Moench. flowers and its herbal mixtures using HPLC was developed. Chromatographic study investigated extracts and reference solution of apigenin was carried out by chromatograph Shimadzu ser. 20, equipped with a diode array detector under the following conditions: column Phenomenex Luna C18 (2) (250 mm × 4.6 mm, 5 micron particle size), the column temperature – 35 °C, detection wavelength – 330 nm, the flow rate of the mobile phase – 1ml/min, volume injection – 5mcl. As the mobile phase used a 0.1% solutions of trifluoroacetic acid in a mixture of water and acetonitrile (gradient elution). With the developed methodology analyzed of 5 series Helichrysum arenarium (L.) Moench. The analysis shows, that the content of apigenin in raw plant is between 0,1453 ± 0,0068% to 0,1657 ± 0,0085% in terms of the dried materials. It is shown, that the presence and content of apigenin Helichrysum arenarium (L.) Moench. flowers can be standardized in the mixtures with the following plant: leaves and fruits of genus Crataegus L., roots of Althaea officinalis L., roots of Glycyrrhiza glabra L., roots of Cichorium intybus L., roots of Taraxacum officinale Webb., cones of Humulus lupulus L., grass of Leonurus cardiaca L., grass of Hypericum perforatum L. and seeds of Linum usitatissimum L.
