Development of Contemporary Security Tools

Abstract
The author pays attention to the current problems of development of collective securitytools, particularly focusing on the structures of such mechanisms, which form the basis ofthe European states’ security. The article analyzes changes in perception of real threats inorder to present current directions of building adequate defence tools and mechanisms.Dynamic and areas in which political, social and economic changes take place, bring newassessments of contemporary threats. When the Cold War ended, the European states basedtheir vision of security on NATO an EU. They had a traditional approach to NATO as thesafest and the most reliable political and military structure, which was supposed to becometheir refuge of safety. The European Union, on the other hand, guaranteed political andeconomic development of the countries. The author analyzed the changes which took placein this area.
