Development of the high voltage delay-time pulse train generator for time-of-flight mass spectrometer

Abstract
The principle and experiment results of a high voltage delay pulse train generator is introduced. The device uses simple RC circuit. Through delay-time control, pulse train circuit and high voltage pulse train generate, it achieves the output of 0~±800V high voltage pulse train. This high voltage pulse train with 2 s~30 ms delay time has a rising range less than 100ns. The total range of the pulse train can be controlled between 1 and 10 ms. And the frequency is 1~10kHz. The pulse waveform is stable and the error is less than 1%. The generator can be used as the push and pull pulse of orthogonal time-of-flight mass spectrometer for sampling. It also introduces the way of controlling every part of the circuit, the output of the signal and the stability of the generator. Analysis of the error arising from the instability of circuit resistance and capacitance is also presented. At the same time, the shortcomings and the places which need improvement are discussed.
