Development pattern, basic topics and evolution of international sports management discipline

Abstract
Based on the sample of 1794 papers and reviews from three authoritative journals in the field of sports management of SSCI over the past 15 years (2007-2022), this study uses Bibexcel to screen literatures and select key information for collating and summarizing, in an attempt to reveal the discipline layout and development background of sports management in Europe and America to a certain extent. It provides reference for the development of sports management discipline in China. Firstly, the geographic information visualization analysis method (GIS) was used to analyze the regional distribution of mainstream authors. Secondly, the "knowledge graph method" is used to analyze and summarize the research fields, directions and viewpoints of mainstream scholars. Then, it lists some basic information of scholars in Mainland China, Hong Kong and Taiwan. And through the "co-citation network" analysis and induction of three journals of high frequency cited classic literature. From the perspective of theoretical basis and method application, "sports consumer psychology" is still an important research category of sports management in Europe and America. "Structural equation" is the preferred quantitative research method in most papers. Finally, according to the high-frequency keywords induction, the researchers extensively combined with relevant literature, analyzed: (1) the integration of sports management and non-economic management disciplines—"sports consumption experience" and "fan loyalty"; (2) Study on the governance system of sports management—"Corporate governance" and "Systematic Governance"; (3) Research on several key sports in the field of sports management—football and e-sports; (4) The integration of sports management and organizational behavior—Sports leadership.
