Journal Title: Tropical Journal of Ophthalmology and Otolaryngology - Year 2016, Vol 1, Issue 1
Abstract
Diabetic eye diseases include diabetic retinopathy, diabetic macular edema (DME), cataract & glaucoma all of which have potential to cause severe vision loss & blindness. Diabetic retinopathy, the commonest cause of vision loss among people with diabetes affects retinal blood vessels causing them to bleed & leak fluid. Later abnormal blood vessels proliferate leading to scarring & poor vision.
