Differences in diazepam influence on the behaviour of rabbits under spontaneous conditions, and after electrical stimulation of the ventromedial hypothalamic nucleus
Journal Title: Journal of Pre-Clinical and Clinical Research - Year 2008, Vol 2, Issue 2
Abstract
The purpose of the present study was to compare the influence of diazepam on different forms of rabbits’ behaviour under stress and spontaneodial hypothalamic nucleus, escape reactionus conditions. The experimental model of a stress situation was induced by electrical stimulation of the ventromedial hypothalamic nucleus. Diazepam was injected intravenously at a dose of 1mg/kg 40 min before the behaviour recording. Diazepam reduced the tension phase and orientation-searching reactions, and prolonged the comfort phase in both situations. Grooming was not influenced by diazepam, but eating and drinking were inhibited. Only the reduction in food intake in normal conditions was a statistically significant change.

Immediate effects of increased blood pressure on pattern of resting discharge in renal postganglionic neurons
In experiments performed on anaesthetized rabbits the pattern of resting activity in renal postganglionic neurons during sustained increase in blood pressure (BP) was investigated. Resting discharge was recorded in 39 s...
Influence of phototherapy on sensorimotor excitability of healthy muscle
The aim of this study is to assess the influence of laser irradiation and incoherent infrared radiation on sensorimotor excitability and muscle pain after a workout. The research was carried out on 40 healthy volunteers...
ECG movement artefacts can be greatly reduced with the aid of a movement absorbing device
Accurate ECG signal analysis can be confounded by electric lead, and/or electrode movements varying in origin from, for example, hiccups, tremor or patient restlessness. ECG signals recorded using either a conventional e...
Effect of N-(p-ethoxycarbonylphenylmethyl) -p-isopropoxyphenylsuccinimide on the anticonvulsant action of four classical antiepileptic drugs in the mouse maximal electroshock-induced seizure model
Introduction and objective. The purpose of this study was to determine the effects of N-(p-ethoxycarbonylphenylmethyl)-p-isopropoxyphenylsuccinimide (ECPM-IPPS), a new succinimide derivative, on the protective act...
The role of working memory impairment in ADHD - new therapeutic indications
Many individuals affected with Attention Deficit Hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) are faced with a constellation of symptoms and few therapeutic options. Although most of the drugs currently available for treatment are eff...
