DIGITAL RAILWAY -ERTMS, BIM, GIS, PLM AND DIGITAL TWINS

Abstract

This article is devoted to the development of the digital railway and the various technologies that are used in this process. In recent years, rail transport in many countries has increased more than several times, which has led to the need to address the problem of how rail transport will cope with the growing demand. Understanding the needs of those who move goods, as well as the needs of people using the railroad system, will be the key to effectively optimizing the carrying capacity of the railway. The government and the railway industry need to better understand the needs of future railway users and reflect these needs within the sector's policies, contracts and a system of key performance indicators so that the industry provides a railway system that is compatible with the emerging demand and needs of tomorrow's railway users. The following technologies are considered in the work: digital monitoring and control of trains (ERTMS), provision of a launch of more trains, updating of the signal system, general issues of automation on the railroad. The implementation and operation of such systems are impossible without information modeling. Accordingly, consideration of issues related to the application of BIM for the digital railway takes a large place in the article. We are considering the benefits of BIM and PLM integration, the development of BIM standards, the standards for infrastructures and the use of IFC, the work of buildingSMART. In the second part of the paper, we are talking about managing the life cycle of a product in production, digital duplicates and the coordination of digital models.
