Direct foreign investments as international capital flow

Abstract
Foreign direct investments (FDI) in Poland are mostly made by economic organizations from highly developed countries. Foreign investors are interested in winning new markets of expanding existing ones, building up the competitive positions of their products; they are also motivated by cost effectiveness in order to maximize profits. Growing share of foreign investors in the economy of each regions becomes one of the most important stimulants of their economic development. It becomes a factor which makes the production and export more dynamic, improving the quality of the products, decreasing production costs, introducing modern management styles and production technologies, supporting the improvement of staff qualifications, while influencing the level of competiveness of an economic organization and at the same time the improving the economic situation of the region.
