Director’s searches for theatrical forms during the 90s of the 20 century

Abstract

Purpose of the research is to study progressive forms and experiments in theatrical director's art of the 90's of the 20 century. Methodology is based on historical, systematical and informational approaches, involving scientific researches of leading theatrical theorists as well as analysis of theoretical conceptions and director's art practice. Scientific novelty lies in studying the variety of theatrical forms in director's art of the 90's of the 20 century. Totality of their manifestations is not only theatrical environment of the 90's, but also a kind of foundation for the national Ukrainian theatre of the new period in the history of Ukraine. Conclusions. Field and palette of director’s searches for theatrical forms of the late 20th century is quite wide. To comprehend it, not only creative, but also personal aspect is important. Ukrainian theatre is deeply involved in the searches for new directing forms. Many theatres are involved into this process, both national repertoire ones, and studio and festival movement, which slowly expanding itself and raise the level of street theatre, giving it an equal opportunity to coexist with national theatres. Focusing on works with forms, adapted from European tradition, experiments with dramatic materials, personal perseption of it, putting together elements of realistic and symbolic-poetic theatres, searches in the sphere of staging, taking theatre out of its boundaries and opening up street space are only few of many, but very important ways of theatre searchers of the 90`s.
