DISCURSO E MITO NO FILME O SENHOR DOS ANÉIS: A SOCIEDADE DO ANEL

Abstract
This article presents the results of master thesis. It consists of a discursive analysis of the film The Lord of the Rings: the fellowship of the ring, in line with the study about this film steeped in myths. These myths stand out as an intrinsic need to language; the myth is not opposed to truth, but it’s understood as a mode of signification. We chose to our analysis the Discourse Analysis (DA) principles, because they encourage a theoretical framework that allows us to understand the work of ideology, the interpretive gesture and the symbolic relationships between subjects. We also emphasize the discussion of media discourse on the instance of power; cinema, as a fact of language, with peculiarities that enable meaning effect in its textual composition. The cinema features images and words, which require their own internal organization, in a semiotic relationship. We believe the spread of film media as a suitable medium for the discourses’ dissemination. Because of that, we justify this research’s relevance. As a theoretical contribution, we studied Barthes (2007), Bernardet (1985), Cassirer (1972), Charaudeau (2007), Foucault (1997a; 1997b; 2003, 2009), Nazario (2005), Orlandi (2008; 2012), Pêcheux (1997), Ramnoux (1977), Tressider (2003), White (2013).
